Silver Comfort Program

The Silver Comfort Program is dedicated to supporting residents in nursing homes through consistent companionship and pastoral care. The program recognises the unique emotional, social, and spiritual needs of the elderly, particularly those who may experience isolation or reduced family contact.

Volunteers engage residents through meaningful presence—spending time in conversation, assisting with feeding where appropriate, and offering attentive care that affirms dignity and personhood. The program also incorporates spiritual support through Scripture reading and prayer, provided sensitively and in accordance with each resident’s wishes.

In addition to regular visits, Silver Comfort organises seasonal and celebratory activities within nursing homes. These include the distribution of small gifts, musical presentations, and choir performances, fostering joy and a sense of community among residents.

Participation is open to all who wish to contribute to this ministry of presence and care. The Silver Comfort Program seeks to enhance the quality of life for nursing home residents by combining practical assistance with compassionate engagement, creating moments of comfort, connection, and enduring human value.
