North East Africa Program
The NE Africa Program, an initiative that focuses on delivering targeted humanitarian and development support to vulnerable communities across North-East Africa. Operating in Egypt, Sudan, South Sudan, Ethiopia, and Eritrea, the program aims to alleviate poverty through practical, sustainable, and culturally appropriate interventions.
A central component of the program is the development of small-scale livelihood projects that enable individuals and families to achieve financial independence. These include initiatives such as poultry and livestock farming, tailoring through the provision of sewing machines, small grocery shops, street carts, and other micro-enterprises. These projects are designed to generate ongoing income and reduce long-term dependency.
In addition, the program provides direct humanitarian assistance in critical areas. This includes contributing to marriage support for disadvantaged individuals, assisting with urgent medical needs, and supporting housing restoration and construction for families living in inadequate or unsafe conditions.
All interventions are implemented in collaboration with trusted local partners to ensure accountability, cultural sensitivity, and effective delivery. The NE Africa Program reflects SMOS’s commitment to combining immediate relief with sustainable development, empowering communities to build stable and dignified livelihoods.
