Healing Power Program
The Healing Power Program, an initiative of St Mary Outreach Service (SMOS), focuses on supporting and uplifting children facing serious illness, particularly those with terminal conditions or those travelling from regional Western Australia for medical treatment. The program seeks to create moments of joy, normality, and emotional relief during challenging periods for both children and their families.
Volunteers engage children through structured visits that include play, storytelling, and interactive activities designed to encourage creativity and positive engagement. The program also organises small celebrations and children’s parties, providing gifts and experiences that contribute to a sense of occasion and belonging within clinical or temporary living environments.
In addition to direct engagement with children, the program provides practical support to families, including meal preparation and hospitality care, particularly in settings such as the Ronald McDonald House. This holistic approach recognises the broader needs of families navigating long-term treatment away from home.
Participation is open to those committed to compassionate and respectful service. The Healing Power Program aims to bring encouragement, dignity, and tangible care to children and families during times of vulnerability.
